Everything you need to know about Al Wisam Juniors
We accept children from 3 to 6 years old. Our program includes KG1 (ages 3-4), KG2 (ages 4-5), and Pre-Primary (ages 5-6). Each age group has specially designed curriculum and activities appropriate for their developmental stage.
We follow an internationally recognized early childhood education curriculum that combines play-based learning with structured academic preparation. Our approach integrates elements from various educational philosophies including Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
We are open Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We offer flexible schedules including half-day programs (7:00 AM - 12:00 PM) and full-day programs (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM). Extended care is available until 4:30 PM for working parents.
We maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio of 12:1 to ensure personalized attention for each child. Additionally, each classroom has a teaching assistant, bringing the actual ratio even lower during activities and providing enhanced support for all students.
Yes, we offer safe and reliable bus transportation services covering various areas throughout Bahrain. Our buses are equipped with GPS tracking, air conditioning, seat belts, and CCTV cameras. Each bus is supervised by a trained attendant in addition to the driver.
Yes, we provide nutritious snacks and lunch as part of our program. All meals are prepared fresh daily in our hygienic kitchen following strict food safety standards. We accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and religious requirements. Parents receive monthly menus in advance.
We offer instruction in both English and Arabic. English is the primary language of instruction, while Arabic language lessons are integrated throughout the week. We also introduce children to basic concepts in other languages through songs, games, and cultural activities.
We offer a variety of enrichment activities including arts and crafts, music and movement, sports and physical education, storytelling, drama, cooking classes, and outdoor exploration. These activities are integrated into our daily schedule and included in the tuition fees.
Learn about our enrollment process and requirements
We accept enrollments throughout the year, subject to availability. However, we recommend enrolling early as spaces fill up quickly. Our main intake is in September for the new academic year, with registration typically opening in January.
Required documents include: completed application form, child's original birth certificate and copy, child's passport copy with valid residency visa, immunization/vaccination records, recent passport-sized photographs, copies of parents' CPR/identification, and previous school records (if applicable).
Absolutely! We encourage all prospective parents to visit our facility. Tours are available Monday through Thursday between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. You can schedule a tour by calling our admissions office or filling out the contact form on our website. During the tour, you'll meet our staff, see our classrooms, and learn about our programs.
Our fees vary depending on the program selected (half-day or full-day) and additional services like transportation. We offer flexible payment plans including annual, semester, and monthly installments. A detailed fee structure is provided during the enrollment process. Registration fees and deposits are non-refundable.
Yes, when classes are full, we maintain a waiting list. Priority is given based on enrollment date and sibling status. We contact families on the waiting list as soon as spaces become available. We recommend registering early to secure your preferred spot.
For younger children (KG1), there is no formal assessment. For older groups (KG2 and Pre-Primary), we conduct a brief informal assessment to understand the child's current developmental level and ensure proper placement. This is a friendly, play-based interaction to help us support your child better.
For KG1 students (age 3), we understand that some children may still be developing this skill. We work closely with parents to support the potty-training process. For KG2 and Pre-Primary, we do require children to be fully potty-trained as this allows them to participate fully in all activities.
Important policies and guidelines for parents
Children must stay home if they have a fever (above 38Β°C), vomiting, diarrhea, contagious illness, or severe cold symptoms. Students must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning. We will contact parents immediately if a child becomes ill at school. This policy protects all children and staff from the spread of illness.
Yes, we can administer prescribed medication with written parental consent and proper medical documentation. All medications must be in original containers with clear labeling, dosage instructions, and the child's name. Our staff maintains detailed medication logs. Over-the-counter medications require written permission from both parent and physician.
Regular school hours end at 3:00 PM. Extended care is available until 4:30 PM with prior arrangement. Pick-ups after 4:30 PM incur late fees of 5 BD per 15-minute interval. Repeated late pick-ups may result in the loss of enrollment. We understand emergencies happen and appreciate advance notification whenever possible.
Minor injuries are treated by our trained first-aid staff, and parents are informed immediately. For more serious injuries, we contact parents right away and, if necessary, arrange emergency medical care. All staff members are certified in pediatric first aid and CPR. We maintain detailed incident reports for all injuries.
Yes! We love celebrating birthdays. Parents may bring store-bought treats (individually wrapped for hygiene) to share with the class. Please coordinate with your child's teacher at least 3 days in advance. We ask that celebrations be simple and inclusive. Please inform us of any allergies in the class.
We maintain regular communication through our parent app, where you'll receive daily updates, photos, and notifications. Teachers are available for brief conversations during drop-off and pick-up. Formal parent-teacher conferences are held twice a year, with additional meetings available upon request. We also send weekly newsletters and monthly calendars.
For safety reasons, children should not bring toys from home (except on designated show-and-tell days), money, jewelry, electronic devices, or any items with small parts that could be choking hazards. We are not responsible for lost or damaged personal items. Nut products are strictly prohibited due to severe allergy concerns.
We follow the Bahrain Ministry of Education guidelines for weather-related closures. In case of severe weather, notifications will be sent via SMS, the parent app, and our social media channels by 6:30 AM. Safety is our top priority, and we coordinate with local authorities for any emergency situations.
While sunlight supports health and wellbeing, excessive ultraviolet (UV) exposure can be harmful, especially for young children. Sun safety is therefore an essential part of safeguarding, as children are most vulnerable to UV rays between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., when the sun is strongest and young skin burns easily. During extreme weather, children will participate in indoor activities, and outdoor play will occur only when conditions are safe.
While considering all options to manage food allergy exposure at our school, we realized that any compromise to this policy would present an increased safety risk.
No jewellery is allowed. This policy has been adopted to support a safe, consistent, and focused learning environment for all kindergarten students. Certain types of jewellery can present safety risks during physical activities and playtime, increasing the likelihood of injury. In addition, valuable jewellery may be lost or damaged while at school. A no-jewellery policy helps reduce these risks, supports student well-being, and ensures greater security of personal belongings while maintaining a uniform school environment.
Birthdays are special occasions, and the school is pleased to recognize each childβs birthday in a simple and inclusive way. To ensure safety and consistency, gifts, balloons, candles, sharp tools or knives, and any food containing nuts, seeds, or gelatin are not permitted. Approved items include party plates, cups, napkins, a birthday banner, and healthy foods served in child-size portions. Birthday celebrations take place from 10:40 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Parents must notify the Administration Office at least one week in advance to arrange a celebration date.
Guidelines for school uniforms and appropriate attire
Yes, wearing the school uniform is mandatory for all students. The uniform helps create a sense of community, reduces peer pressure about clothing, and makes it easier to identify our students during outings. It also simplifies morning routines for busy families.
School uniforms can be purchased from our designated uniform supplier located at [Address]. The supplier is open Saturday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We also host uniform sales at school during the week before school starts. Order forms and sizing guides are available in the admissions office.
The daily uniform includes: school polo shirt with logo (blue for boys, pink for girls), navy blue shorts/skirt, white socks, and black closed-toe shoes. For PE days: school PE t-shirt, navy blue athletic shorts/track pants, and athletic shoes. A school jacket is available for cooler months. All items should be clearly labeled with your child's name.
Children should wear comfortable, closed-toe black shoes with velcro or elastic fastenings (no laces for younger children as they pose a tripping hazard). Sandals, flip-flops, and light-up shoes are not permitted. On PE days, students should wear athletic sneakers. Shoes should be easy for children to put on and take off independently.
We have a school jacket available for purchase that can be worn during cooler months over the regular uniform. Plain navy blue or black cardigans/sweaters may also be worn. During the cooler season, students may wear navy blue or black leggings under skirts. Jackets and sweaters must be removed indoors.
We recommend purchasing at least 3-4 sets of daily uniforms and 2 sets of PE uniforms. This allows for regular washing and ensures your child always has a clean uniform available. Children can be messy during activities, so having extra sets on hand is very helpful. Uniforms are durable and can last the entire school year with proper care.
Hair should be neat and tidy. Long hair must be tied back in a simple ponytail or braid using navy blue, black, or white hair accessories. Extreme hairstyles or hair colors are not permitted. Nails should be kept short and clean for hygiene and safety. Nail polish and makeup are not allowed. Simple stud earrings are acceptable.
Students should bring: a labeled water bottle, healthy snack (if not using our snack service), spare clothes in a labeled bag, hat for outdoor play, and any required medications with proper forms. Please ensure all items are clearly labeled with your child's name. We provide all necessary learning materials and supplies.
